Where is the funding for identifying and helping people with mental disorders who often times start these fires?

Same place as Mental Services that ised to house those their own families could not help where someone decided they Had To work harder Ar Home.

Woodlands do not sequester much of anything for long. Organics in decay release oxides of nitrogen, CO2, methane and as tge organisms consume said decaying matter also release further materials. In the 1970s trade school classes I took these were explained as to 100 acres of woodlot unkept and allowed to build to danger kindling releases as much pollutants as a small town level of automobiles, that should be greater now that auto emissions are reduced(sic).

IC engine emissions equipment is a game of bad engineering on overly exaggerated conditions, the exact a Minimal reduction of minimal quantities exhausted. Much as PPM CO2 is exaggerated as is in actuality .045 of a Single Percent and is contained in the .8% of All Other gases beyond N2, O2, Argon that make up the 99.2%

Great article. How much would it cost to manage forested areas so large as Northern California's? It seems a rather overwhelming task.

The US Forestry Service used to perform just that, until the Save the Whatever people balked and whined.

The excess fuel is sequestered carbon if we stop it from getting back in the air. Let's think about the optimal technology to do that before dismissing the idea based on current tools.
